Register now for the Peanut & Cotton Field Day on Sept. 17

 Oklahoma State University Agriculture will host its annual Peanut & Cotton Field Day on Sept. 17 for producers to learn about peanut varieties, weed and disease management in peanuts and cotton, soil fertility and pest evaluations.

OSU Agriculture Field Days are educational events presented by OSU Ag Research and OSU Extension that share research-based information and resources with Oklahomans. Field days showcase current agricultural research and relevant best practices through presentations, tours, hands-on workshops and discussions. Research at OSU locations across the state is often designed for specific applications based on the region.

What: Peanut & Cotton Field Day

When: 5-8 p.m. Sept. 17

Where: OSU Caddo Research Station (28054 County St.2540) in Fort Cobb

Schedule:

  • Disease evaluations of peanut breeding lines and sesame/cotton rotations for peanut nematodes – Rebecca Bennett, USDA-ARS, plant pathology
  • Cotton arthropod Integrated Pest Management and 2025 survey results – Ashleigh Faris, assistant professor and Extension specialist, cropping systems entomology
  • 2026 Peanut Variety Trials – Kelly Chamberlin, USDA-ARS, peanut genetics
  • Two-spotted spider mite control in cotton – Sydney Parcus, graduate research assistant
  • Stink bug and dynamic action threshold in cotton – Gourav Beniwal, graduate research assistant
  • Phytogen variety evaluation and cotton harvest aid management – Jenny Dudak, assistant professor and Extension specialist, cotton
  • Weed management in peanuts and cotton – Max Smith, assistant Extension specialist, cotton integrated pest management
  • Fungicide application in late-planted corn for southern rusts – Raedan Sharry, area Extension specialist, agronomy 

 

Check-in begins at 4:30 p.m. Peanut hull blasting and maturity assessment will occur 2:30-4:30 p.m.Registration is free and is required by Sept. 10. For more information or to register, visit the Field Days website
